EcoShield Technician in Milwaukee Helps Mother Locked Out of Car With Infant Inside

“Not all heroes wear capes—some wear pest control uniforms and drive EcoShield trucks,” says Sam Ruiz, General Manager of EcoShield's Milwaukee branch in New Berlin.

Sam is proud of his team, not only for their dedication to protecting homes and businesses from pests, but also for their strong commitment to serving the community with a “golden rule” mindset. Every day, EcoShield technicians across the country go above and beyond for their customers. Sometimes, that means solving a pest problem. Other times, it means stepping up when people need help the most.

Jonathan Tiedmann, EcoShield Pest Solutions MilwaukeeJonathan Tiedmann, one of the newest members of the Milwaukee EcoShield team, recently found himself in a situation that had nothing to do with pests but everything to do with compassion, composure, and quick thinking.

While on a routine job, Jonathan stopped at a local Kwik Trip. As he pulled into the parking lot, he noticed a parent in distress in the vehicle beside him. She had accidentally locked her keys, wallet, phone, and infant child inside the car. The situation escalated quickly, drawing a crowd and creating confusion and panic.

Those who know Jonathan describe him as honest, diligent, and observant. Without hesitation, he jumped into action. He approached the parents and immediately offered comfort, helping to stabilize the situation. He reassured the frantic mother, called emergency services, and stayed by their side the entire time. Despite having a full day of appointments ahead, he continued to support the family even after first responders arrived.

“He stood with the family not as a bystander,” Ruiz said, “but as someone who understood what it means to be there when it truly matters.”

When emergency personnel arrived, Jonathan continued to assist. He did not do it for recognition, but because he believed it was the right thing to do. In that moment, he demonstrated what it means to be part of the EcoShield team: lead with heart, protect what matters, and serve with purpose.

Reflecting on the experience, Jonathan said, “Some people are having bad days, and a simple positive interaction can make a complete difference, especially in a rough situation… It made me feel good, and I think she felt lots of relief that I was able to help her.”

“One of the mantras that we have here at EcoShield in Milwaukee is to operate with the golden rule in our mindset: do unto others as you would do to yourself,” Ruiz added. “If any one of us were in that situation, I would sure hope that there’d be a Jonathan Tiedmann nearby. Jonathan’s actions didn’t make the news, but for that one family, he was a real-life superhero.”

This is just one of many stories that highlight the dedication and heart of EcoShield Pest Control team members. We are proud to recognize Jonathan for going above and beyond in his role and for making a lasting difference in his community.
